Kearns Family Archive: 1969 - After Teresa's Wedding

Despite being shaky and chopping off heads in places, this 3 min 35 sec footage filmed in colour in 1969 by Jimmy is still priceless. It appears to be at the reception for the wedding of Teresa Kearns and Bernard Lees in 1969 (actual date unknown) in Werneth Park, Oldham. The original film was transferred to VHS many years ago and I've digitised it and uploaded it here for archival purposes. (I...

Dazzled the 3 times World champion Ramy Ashour (with my yellow shirt rather than squash skills) in a fun par-5 game for charity. A real privilege to meet and play such a lovely guy!

와우~~
I've had it for 2 years. At first I couldn't close my eye or blink, and had to wear an eye patch so my eyeball wouldn't dry out. THAT is inconvenient, to say the least.
That sounds worse than my experience. I hope it's improving for you Steve.
@@AntonyKearns Thanks, Anthony. I was a sax player, where you need 360 degrees of muscle strength to press against the mouthpiece from all sides. Trumpet is a little more forgiving. I think it was Carmine Caruso who said that each of us has 3 or 4 embouchures. I'm working on pushing air through the horn without losing any to the outside environment. It just became possible for me to start buzzing and doing long tones 3 days ago. So, I'll keep it up and see what happens. Thanks for your well-wishes.
That little guy is talented, man! Awesome!
That young man is a legend!
anyone find the irony? Superman vs kryptonite???
very cute
😍😍😍
Wow how old is kryptonite? He's already playing with so much structure and placing the ball very intelligently. Also, those holds...
why kryptonite nice with it tho
Great match buddy😊
ong im beating kryptonite 3 love
Wish I could move and hit the ball as well as young Kryptonite. Awesome to see Paul encouraging the new generation again.

life was lit when these guys were still competing
Incredibly useful , thanks for taking the trouble. As a pro trumpet player all my life, suffering a stroke 6 months ago that affected the left side of my body, arm, hand, leg and of course, face and embouchure, was devastating, I also used to play all of the following : Chromatic harmonica, trombone, piano, guitar, bass. I cannot play any of them now!....Yet! You can hear / see me on my channel. Although, I am working at the trumpet. I can so relate to your story regarding the embouchure, I struggle with much the same problems. The cheek puffs out, the air leaks from the side. The first thing I found helpful was to play my flugelhorn - less pressure with that deep mouthpiece! I also stumbled upon a charity (The OHMI Trust) that adapted instruments for the disabled. They provided me with a stand. I cannot hold or support the instrument with my left arm/hand. I didn't imagine it would work, you sit at the piano, not a trumpet. The stand was constructed largely from drum kit/cymbal stands. Once in place I found by tilting it towards me, hence instead of the tripod legs, it's weight was on just two legs and allowed a little flexibilty. Although a stroke and bells palsy are two different things, I believe that muscle weakness and a loss of neuro paths controlling the muscles are symptoms we suffer in common? Wonder how you found building up one side when the other is still strong. I'm finding it very difficult, my tone sounds like a beginnier and very windy.; my rsnge is so reduced Determination and commitment is the game.Well done you!
Hi Graham, Thank you for your kind words🙏- I'm thrilled to hear that you found it useful. I'm so sorry to hear of your stroke situation which sounds devastating, but it also sounds like you have a strong, positive attitude which I'm sure will serve you well. All good wishes, Antony
Thx Anthpny, good to hear from you
Thanks for your video and the encouragement. Have had BP three times and am slowly getting some range back and working on embouchure exercises. Glad to hear it went well for you sir!
what has been your routine to get back your smile and raise your eyebrows? Did you have therapy?
Hi Bryan, No specific therapy, only what I talked about in the video 👍
Sir plz share wt are the treatment and exercise fr thiz plz
Hi Naga. All I did is here: antonykearns.com/bells-palsy/
Sir are u now fully recoverey I il seen any bells palsy sign
Doubles looks even harder than singles
BP got me today its not as severe but i cant tighten my lips I couldn't help but cry for hours. I don't care if im able to smile or move my eyebrow, but the fear of not being able to play my trombone ever again broke me . Your video gives me hope that I can also play my horn again with patience and practice. Thank you
Excellent! Much Love!
I had forgotten how much sheer bloody fun a game of doubles could be... One of my first coaches used doubles as a vehicle to teach concepts about safety.
Amazing skills
I appreciate the video Even and I'm glad that you fully recovered I am on my fourth week with Bell's palsy and you totally called it with your story it sounded just like my mind so thank you for giving me hope and optimism
⭐️👍
Awesome game lol
The ultimate entertainer and crowd pleaser, "too good for you". One of my favorite Gaultier quotes, made during a match when the referee did not appreciate his artistry, Baahahaha! The French General, truly a force of nature and one of the all time greats.
How old is he? I reckon I could beat him. Probably not other two.... at least not yet.
I think I beat em both in a beginner
What is the point of this? Who is this old man? And why are they torturing him, is this not against the Geneva Convention?
With their high level skills, reflexes and fitness, they kinda make this look easy! (to them it is!!). Good to see 'em having some fun. Doubles like this CAN be fun...but sometimes some players(not these 4), get way too serious and forget that sure, yes its a sport, but hey, lets also get on court and have some fun too occasionally! Well done to this 4! And yep...some great skills shown! ..... :)
Hi Anthony, thank you so much for the testimony and sharing your progress, can i ask you how many days did you take the meds ?
See my timeline: antonykearns.com/bells-palsy/
Did you use medicine
Yes - for full details see my site: antonykearns.com/bells-palsy/
Thanks for posting this video. I am a trombone player and I am at Day 13 from going to the hospital and finding that I have Bell’s Palsy.
I've had Bell's Palsy for 4 years now, I still can't blow up a balloon 🎈 although I have some movements back, there are still many things that have not healed. This video made me cry, but thank you. ♥️
Thanks for sharing! Obrigado! I'm happy for your fast and great recovery and as a brass player hit by BP found your story and videos specially amazing... Playing music is vital and after so many years dedicated to wind instruments it's a blessing to be able to just hit it again! Congratulations! I'm happy you're in shape again and wish I'll be back soon too! ✊
Nice.
You sound like a great man and I love how you play the trumpet..I'm so glad you recovered from bells palsy! Some people as myself have lived with this disease or condition for many years..for me it's been 20 years . Thank you for the video . God bless you and your family.
Gosh how I miss playing squash doubles.... knees are shot
I sing which is not as bad as being a brass player and I find that I tire quickly because I'm using half of my face but, I grow confident when I see videos like yours. Thanks!
so good thank you my frind
First thought: that is dangerous One i saw who they were: i want more of this
